Every fourth woman in Germany experiences domestic violence. Ascending trend. The income levels, education or place of residence play a minor role – physical or emotional abuse can happen in any family.
But violence in their own homes is still a taboo subject. Often the victims tend to look for help only in extreme situations. And in most cases they have already experienced many years of suffering.
For nearly 10 years, the institution Wegweiser e.V. has been involved in women’s and family issues. A key component of the work is the coordination and intervention agency against domestic violence, established in Grimma. In addition to the coordination and intervention agency in Grimma the institution also runs a women’s and children’s shelter. Women are here given a safe temporal accommodation. 24/7. For women with children, this is often the last place to go.
