Live from Berlin. BMK.TV produced a live stream at the trend press conference of the Koelnmesse and BIU for gamescom 2016
The countdown to gamescom 2016, the world’s largest trade fair and highlight for interactive games has begun. In the middle of July, Koelnmesse GmbH, together with the BIU – Federal Association for Interactive Entertainment, informed about the program, themes and trends of gamescom 2016 within the framework of the trend press conference in Berlin. BMK.TV received an order for a live recording and a live stream transmission of the press conference.
The venue for the trend press conference was an event location Kunztschule in Berlin Mitte. After the preliminary discussion with the location manager it was soon clear that the existing Internet connection is not sufficient for a live stream transmission. Since the use of our IP-SNG transmission van was not possible due to the dense built-up area, we opted for an LTE uplink. With an excellent 25 Mbit/s uplink in the Vodafone network and 22 Mbit/s in the T-Mobile network, we had two parallel and redundantly configured uplinks available.
On time at 8:00 am, our live production team turned up in Berlin with the complete equipment. In just 90 minutes, the complete set-up was built- consisting of two HD cameras, a mobile production switcher; as well as graphics and presentation players. The sound signal was provided by colleagues dealing with event technique from Berlin via a press kit. Already in advance we prepared a special micro site for the live stream player in the CI of the gamescom, with a password protection and a live commentary function for questions of participating press representatives.
The live stream transmission began with a stand graphics at 10:30 am, from 11 am onwards, the press conference was broadcast live from Berlin. One camera was used for a close-up of the speakers, the second camera for an overall view of the room. Parallel to the live stream the presentation films were integrated as a picture-in-picture over a live set. In addition to the complete monitoring of the live stream, we followed real-time statistics about the number of viewers in the live stream and we were able to pass them immediately to our customers.
After nearly one hour was the live streaming transmission of the press conference from Berlin over, professionally and reliably realized by BMK.TV
